Customer Rating: Summary: A film that can be enjoyed at any age Comment: Kiki's Delivery Service is a film directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The film is based off a novel written by Eiko Kadono (but the film only covers what happens during the summer, while the novel covers more time). This was also the first film released under the Disney / Studio Ghibli deal.
The film tells the story of Kiki, a 13-year-old witch in training, and all the adventures she goes through to find her talents as she is growing up.
The DVD has a few special features: the introduction by Pixar's John Lasseter that appears at the beginning of the film, the "Behind the Microphone" documentary (which shows interviews and recording footage of some of the American voice cast), and ten minutes worth of the original Japanese trailers. While the trailers were interesting, the audio quality was a bit disappointing. The second disc contains the film in a "storyboard version" (however, I'm not sure how many people are really going to sit through a version of the film made up of storyboards instead of actual animation).
Kiki's Delivery Service is a wonderful "coming of age" story that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.
Customer Rating: Summary: Extraordinary Family-Oriented Movie! Comment: It proves you do not need villains or violence to make a great movie. It is entertaining, warm, and family friendly. Enjoy it many times over!
Customer Rating: Summary: i love this movie!! Comment: this movie is in my list of most watched movies. its about a witch who loses her power to fly and has to struggle with herself to find who she is to be able to fly again. every witch has a special power that she does best, like her own personality manifested. when kiki loses her power, its like the struggle a lot of young girls (and boys) go through to find out why they're here and who they are. i first saw this movie when i was in grade 7, and her not knowing what her power was at first, finding it, loosing it and then how she gained it back by realizing what was truly important really touched a chord in me. i thought to myself 'hey! i go through that all the time!' and watching her rise out of her inability always made me feel better about myself when i was feeling a bit sad. showing a light at the end of the tunnel if you will. i recommend this movie to all young girls as its a truly touching movie of finding your own way in the world, your purpose, which is to be the best you you can be.
Customer Rating: Summary: DVD-Kiki's Delivery Service Comment: It's a cute coming of age story with an interesting concept. Kiki is 13 and leaves her home to live on her own for a year. Her cat Jiji is voiced by the
same guy who does Troy McClure on the Simpsons.
Customer Rating: Summary: Kiki's Delivery Service Comment: We had the VHS on Kiki's Delivery Service and my mom loves this movie so much but she wanted one on DVD so we gave it to her for her B-day. It is one of the best movies we watch it over and over again and never get tired of it.

In Hayao Miyazaki's magical Kiki's Delivery Service, a 13-year-old girl meets the world head on as she spends her first year soloing as an apprentice witch. Kiki (Kirsten Dunst) is still a little green and plenty headstrong, but also resourceful, imaginative, and determined. With her trusty wisp of a cat Jiji (a gently subdued Phil Hartman) by her side she's ready to take on the world, or at least the quaintly European seaside village she's chosen as her new home. Miyazaki's gentle rhythm and meandering narrative capture the easy pulse of real life (even if his subject is a girl flying high upon a broomstick) and charts the everyday struggles and growing pains of his plucky heroine with sensitivity and understanding. Beautifully detailed animation and the rich designs of the picture-postcard seaside town of red-tiled roofs and cobblestone streets only add to the sense of wonder. This charming animated fantasy is a wholesome, life-affirming picture that doesn't speak down to kids or up to adults. --Sean Axmaker
